late night whimsy

With the knowledge that I am merely 6 exams and 3 days away from freedom, focus has been difficult to maintain. For a week now I have tried my hardest to ignore the stack of unread magazines piled next to my desk. I have tried not to think about dresses, flowers, invitations and all the fantastic wedding inspiration in which my wonderful engaged friends are now immersed. I have suppressed my desire to begin my list of Christmas projects and recipe gathering.

But tonight, I failed... and I have to say that I am quite happy about it.

After a day full of studying, I had been feeling entirely deprived of the whimsical and had begun craving chocolate. I knew what I had to do, and cupcakes were the only answer. So (to continue with what appears to be a bit of a theme here...) I put down the books and baked for the first time in months! It was splendid!

PS. This is the other charming thing which has me a bit distracted - The cabin that we are off to come Friday morning. I hear there are also some great outlets nearby so I plan to do some Christmas shopping as well. I'm packing all my scarfs and boots and hoping desperately for snow!
