It's been a long time coming, but finally I have time to share some happy things with you!
First, I need to update you on my fabulous adventure last week... there is this odd little thrift store that I noticed a few months ago when I was taking summer classes. It's right on the corner of this hideous strip mall and always has wedding dresses from the 1980's hanging in the store window. Not much motivation to go in, but for some reason I was really curious about it. So of course I was a little giddy to find such lovely treasures inside that ugly exterior!

This is one of my favorites and inside is even more fabulous than its cover suggests... black and white photographs and interviews with classy people living in big cities in the late 1960's who loved to entertain. Like the book says,
"Bloomingdale's is more than a store--it is an attitude. And that attitude is style."
It was love at first sight when I unwrapped these adorable little dessert plates from layers of newspaper. Aren't they charming! I don't know much about plates, but they were made by
Noritake which my grandmother said is a wonderful brand.

And this little bag was quite a surprise. It had no tag on it so the lady at the register started looking through it's pockets, then pulled out an fancy old tag that read,
"Handmade by Molmax of London from the best British belting hide, a rugged, full grain, pure aniline leather with all the marks of nature which are an essential part of its rare beauty." I did some research but couldn't find anything about this "Molmax" company, so apparently they've been out of business for quite some time. There are also different colors of paints on the inside of the bag which just makes it even more intrigueing. So for lack of a better story or any real evidence to suggest otherwise, I am choosing to believe that my new leather bag once belonged to a romantic, French painter :)
Oh, and PS. All my treasures together were less than $10... it doesn't get much more satisfying than that! My new endeavor: master the art of estate sale shopping.

Agreed - I loved seeing both of you so very much! I think the thrift store is called "Bibles for China" and it's near the intersection of Macon and Sycamore View. And oh my, I just looked at that sight and am feeling extremely motivated! Thanks for the tip! :)
