pumpkin patch

You'll never believe what I found last weekend - that is, in addition to a love for antiquing!

Side Note:
My mom used to take me to all these antique stores with her when I was younger, but just recently, I've developed this fascination with the mix of new and old. Perhaps it's the treasure hunter in me or the apartment/house I'll be decorating in less than 6 months, but lately I've been all about discovering and reinventing old things. And that was precisely what last weekend was all about!

My aunt Diane and cousin Holly started this tradition years ago, but it was a first for me and my mom. The 4 of us set out last weekend and our agenda looked something like this:

:: Friday ::
meet in the early morning and set off on the journey to Hazel
pumpkin patch! - load up the wagon with pumpkins and pray it all fits in the trunk
explore the first antique mall and rearrange pumpkins to make room for all the new treasures
more antique stores - the hole-in-the-wall variation
swing by the biggest Big Lots you've ever seen
dinner in the El Tequila - the BEST Mexican food I've ever eaten!
check-in to hotel and break out the stash of decorating magazines

:: Saturday ::
late-morning breakfast then. . .
set out for main street - so quaint it feels like you've traveled back in time to the 1950's
antique shop after antique shop all afternoon - the friendliest shop-keepers you've ever met
"High Tea" for a late lunch - talked with the owner who was getting married the next weekend, and heard all about her fall wedding
more antique shopping then won 2 mums in a store drawing!
rearrange all the pumpkins and antiques again to make room for ourselves
home after dark - divvy up the spoils
success.
