We were in the process of looking for a bedset when I saw this old thing outside leaned up against the outside of a strip mall. I love doors. . . Especially the old ones that weigh a ton and are loaded with character. I thought this one would be gorgeous as a headboard. Only after I swept up my treasure did I realize how rare it is to find a door that is:
1. symmetrical
2. solid wood

3. hasn't been repainted
And for under a hundred bucks, no doubt this thing was a gem. A really heavy gem.
I'd also like to take this opportunity to add that most everyone gave it their best shot at talking us out of this. Of course, that didn't work. =) Just in case you forgot the before you can check it out here.
{the finished product}
{We sanded the high points then J had the idea to cut out the windows and let the wall show through. Love.}
Bonus to a door headboard: When your space is. . . shall I say, a bit on the "cozy" side, foregoing a footboard adds a ton of visual space. Also, we think that having an oversized headboard helped to an anchor our space and doubles as piece of art.
