our friend jack

When we first began thinking through the changes we wanted to make to Willow, we were contemplating ripping up the current flooring and staining the concrete to save money. Well, hallelujah that we had enough sense to veto that project before it began... we had no idea what was hiding under our “unassuming" carpet and tile. Oh, and in the process of the floor demolition I met my new favorite tool of all time. This is no exaggeration. I may embrace my femininity, but I know a good power tool when I use one... meet “Jack” as I have named him:

{he’s actually a heavy duty "demolition hammer” that we rented from The Home Depot}

{and look at what he can do in literally about 5 minutes}

{sure does beat the heck out of the old crowbar-and-a-sledge-hammer method}

{my beastly brother sweeping up the remains of tile that never stood a chance}

{Jack (still talking about the hammer) is also useful for breaking up the grout that’s left under tiling, however, be prepared for a major dust storm... this appliance was originally black}
