Last weekend I went to the farmer’s market and loaded up all our summer favorites: peaches, tomatoes, cucumbers, eggplant, okra, and green beans. And this list would usually include berries, but those little guys were priced like they were goin' out of style. So I went directly to the source... Nesbit Blueberry Farm, with my blueberry-pickin’ pal:
{We staked our claim on row 17}
{It actually takes a bit of hunting to find the good ones}
{Check ‘um out! If berries had bullies, these would be them. So I ate them. And they turned out to be quite sweet. This particular farm adopts the eat-while-you-pick approach to which we happily obliged =)}
{Beginnings. Because one pays by the gallon/bucket and we may or may not have contemplated combining our barely-full buckets and splitting the cost when the pickin’ got slow. In the end, we decided to carry on if it took all night... which it essentially did.}
{But the results were well worth it}
Last year, I put our blueberries out to dry and before I could freeze the leftovers, they were gone - within the weekend. The entire gallon. I hear blueberries are in the “superfood" category as far as health benefits are concerned, which is good to know considering we apparently had no problem eating a lifetime’s supply in 3 days!
