This moment:
I am sitting on the outside balcony in the 85ish degree humidity of the lovely coast, watching the sky shift colors as the sun sets and finishing my 4th cup of hot tea. Yes. Hot tea.
Believe it or not (and I'm pretty certain that until this very day I didn't even believe it to be entirely possible) I have managed to acquire a sinus infection in the summer! Have you ever heard of such a thing!? I get them every winter without fail, but never in the summer.
So. . . as I refuse to spend my precious vacation time in a doctor's office, instead, I chose the path of herbal remedies and kitchen concoctions including:
:: Hot green tea
:: Gallons of water
:: Large doses of vitamin C
:: And, last but certainly not least, saltwater in my sinus cavity
I'm no stranger to the first three, but salt water up the nose is something I have never intentionally achieved. But you know what. . . this salt water really works! It certainly is not comfortable nor tasteful, but effective? Happily, yes. As I have been informed by my dad (and the glorious internet) that high concentrations of salt kills bacteria. This is also apparently why the pools here (and a lot of other places) use a salt solution instead of chlorine - because it works as a purifier.
So my conclusion is this:
What better time to have a sinus infection?! I am surrounded by salty water and warm, humid air on all sides. Though I haven't experienced any of the ocean variety yet, I suppose that those accidental waves up the nose really aren't so bad (for me) after all!

Are you using the neti pot???!!! SALT water is a miracle worker for sinus infections :)
Oh no! I hate that you're sick! I hope you feel better so that you can enjoy the rest of your vacation!
I can relate. Normally I get a sinus infection every February. But for this entire year, I have gotten about one a month every month. I wish it would stop.
Glad that you're enjoying the beach!
Get well soon!
Heather, I have, and right you are about this salt water business - it is fabulous! What a bizarre yet wonderful invention. I used it yesterday and I'm feeling MUCH better this morning. Lee, if you haven't tried the neti pot you definitely should!!!
