this may get messy

Let’s play a little guessing game of “what is Whitney making now” shall we?

Clue #1: I just purchased 8 pounds of corn starch and 16 pounds of baking soda... thank you, Sam’s Club
Clue #2: It will be cooked
Clue #3: It should not be eaten

Do you know what it is?! Okay, I’ll be honest, about 24 hours ago I wouldn’t have had clue. If you do, I’m impressed. If you don’t, I’ll put you our of your misery now ; )  I’ve been teaching landforms in science, so this week, we’re sculpting and painting landforms. Yep, that is reason that I am attempting to make precisely 30 POUNDS of modeling clay. This could get a bit interesting... and messy. Here is the recipe that I’m using. The best part about one is that you don’t have to bake it for it to set... (found on google’s how-to)
. . .
No-Bake Clay Recipe
1 cup cornstarch
1 1/4 cups cold water
2 cups baking soda (1 pound)
Food coloring (optional)
Combine cornstarch, baking soda and water in a saucepan; stir over medium heat for about 4 minutes until mixture thickens to a moist mashed-potato consistency. (For a fun colored clay, add a few drops of food coloring to the water before it is mixed with cornstarch and baking soda.) Remove from heat, turn onto plate, and cover with a damp cloth until cool. When cooled, knead until smooth.

Happy Sculpting!
