some blooms

The better part of our weekend was actually spent in the yard for a change... just workin’ on our farmer’s tans. In the mean time, we cut down 2 trees, one bush as big a a tree, and cleared out about 2 years worth of out-of-control brush - all with the help of our families, an ax, and a hand saw. Which brings me to an important side-note. If you’re in the in the business of taking on lofty home-improvement projects my #1 piece of advice before you begin is to make sure you have an enthusiastic, handy, jack-of-all-trades kind of family around. If you don’t, marry into one. I’m 60% joking... but enough with the jokes. The point of all this is that before we laid into our jungle I rescued some decent looking plant life before it met the ax. I can’t believe these things actually came from our yard!

{recognize that "vase”?)

. . .

and before we got to work we enjoyed our very first saturday morning breakfast in our new home. I think it’s safe to say that we’re off to a good start...

...and that was the weekend.
