classroom update

I made a little visit to my classroom this morning to do some work. It sounds crazy, but no matter how much I get done there seems to always be more. So today, I decided to revisit my list with all those to-do’s crossed off and take a little picture tour of the progress... and I thought you might like to come along. Also, I apologize in advance for the poor picture quality. I took all these with my point-and-shoot.

. . .

First, I’d like you to meet big, blue wall. He was born last summer when each room got an accent wall of a predetermined color. He is big and he is blue. This project began when I decided to cover the (once purple) shelf in the bottom of the picture with contact paper. For those of you out of the contact paper loop, the stuff has come along way since the days of old. I got a pine woodgrain one for 6 bucks and once I finished the shelf I felt like a tree was just the logical next step. And I have to say, tree sure does help out big blue wall.

Then I added some cork leaves for kiddo’s to clip their work onto for display... PS. Please excuse the piles of goodies on the shelf. Our floors are being spiffed up over the summer so my storage situation has become desperate creative.

My ribbon word wall: Just mini clothespins hot glued onto ribbon. And also a simple panel curtain I stitched up. We actually have a stellar view of the school garden/courtyard... Best seat in the house!

Organized the (gloriously massive) closet with matching storage containers. It’s a little creepy how much a love matching storage.

Sometimes little folk (as well as big folk) just need a place to get away, so I decided to take the door off of the closet and hung this (shower) curtain instead. Private without being so closed off, and opens things up without having to leave all that swing-space for the door.

Thank heaven for dollar sections... they fill my heart with joy and my room with happy!

And that’s a little early taste of back-to-school goodness for ya’...

Coming Soon: Lamp Makeover... I’m loving this little thrift store recovery!
