“A creature of habit” ... most of the time, there’s something about that idea makes me cringe, but lately I’ve found a bit of comfort in it. I started this book (extremely insightful and highly recommended by the way) a few months ago an picked it up again the other night. There is this line in it about how people find pleasure in routine and also in the novel. It’s the every-now-and-again stuff that doesn’t really encourage happiness. I think that’s such a very interesting idea!
So I have this new home-from-work routine that begin by accident actually...
Over Christmas our fireplace became functional for the first time since move-in [insert giddy clap and high pitch squeal of joy] thanks to my splendid in-laws. There’s something about a fire that’s so incredibly... home. We had no fireplace in the apartment so it’s reasonably been almost 2 years since I’ve had one to call my own.
Therefore.
I have been enjoying every precious second I can spare on my furry sheepskin, by my cozy fire. And this, friends, is where it’s at!
enter door
shoes off
oversized, cable-knit sweater on
cozy up by fire
... aaaannnd lesson plan
It’s not the grandest of endings, but I’ve somehow tricked myself into looking forward to it. =)
