the one

Confession: I've never liked novels very much, but I just made an exception. A friend gave me the book Redeeming Love last week and I have to admit that I wasn't just thrilled to read it. I definitely made some cover judgments and let it sit around for a while before I finally gave it a chance.
Once began I couldn't put it down. The whole story parallels the story of Hosea in the Bible which I loved long before I knew anything about this book. I think I love Hosea so much and so differently than other parts of the Bible because it portrays God as a lover.

As much as I don't understand it, I love it.

It's so beautiful and odd that an intimacy like that could even be possible to share with my God. The one who chases my heart with the rain and warms my skin with the sunshine he made. The one who pursues me with music and sunsets and the wind in my hair. The one who finds pleasure in watching me dance and sleep and share my love. The one who deems my broken life to be of more worth than his own.

I'm falling for a Love greater and deeper and more consuming than any I've ever known.
