Reorganizing and getting new supplies! There's just something charming about new pencils and pens - all lined up in rainbow order - colorful dividers, and a brand new planner. And the best part about being a teacher-in-training: I also get to enjoy the colored pencils, crayons, 1,000 shades of construction paper, scented markers, and paint of all sorts!
However, I don't think I fit the mold of the typical teacher because just as much as I love to organize at the beginning I can equally appreciate the broken colored pencils and watercolors that have spilled in to their neighboring compartments. I think there's something very charming about lived-in things - something really beautiful about their imperfection. What I'm saying is this: I couldn't happily begin a semester of school without things being organized and fresh, and couldn't happily end one without the broken crayons and spilled paints that stand as proof to all the lovely, messy, imperfect projects enjoyed.
